Our front-facing bookshelf is made to be transformed. Staining is one exciting way to elevate it and make it truly unique — whether you prefer a rustic or modern finish, it lets you customise the shelf to match your style. Here's how to achieve stunning results.

1. Choose the right stain

Consider your room's colour scheme and the ambiance you want. Options range from rich, dark stains to lighter, translucent finishes — experiment with samples on a small section to find the perfect match.

2. Prepare the surface

Thoroughly clean the bookshelf to remove dust so the stain penetrates evenly, and use painter's tape to protect any areas you don't want stained.

3. Apply the stain

Using a quality brush or cloth, apply the stain evenly, working in small sections and moving with the wood grain. Let it penetrate for the recommended time, then wipe off any excess with a clean cloth.

4. Enhance the finish

Add more layers for a deeper hue, or seal with a clear protective topcoat to protect the wood and boost durability and longevity.

5. Showcase your bookshelf

Once stained and dried, arrange your books and decor to show off its new look. With the right stain, proper prep and attention to detail, an ordinary bookshelf becomes a stunning focal point.
