Diecast Display Racks for Hot Wheels: How to Pick by Scale

Diecast Display Racks for Hot Wheels: How to Pick by Scale

If your floor is a minefield of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, you already know the problem: a great diecast collection has nowhere to live. JoyKids JCAR display racks turn that scattered pile into a tidy, show-off-worthy wall of cars — built from solid pine, with slots sized for the scale you actually collect. The key thing to know before you buy: JCAR racks come in different slot sizes for different scales, so the right rack depends on what your cars are, not just how many. The range now spans three scales — 1:64, 1:43 and 1:32 — so there's a slot that fits your fleet exactly.

First, match the scale — not just the count

Diecast cars come in different scales, and a slot built for a standard Hot Wheels car won’t fit a longer 1:43 model, a chunky 1:32 car or a monster truck. Start here:

  • Standard 1:64 (Hot Wheels®, Matchbox®, Pixar Cars, Maisto, Greenlight) → the classic JCAR slot racks: 30, 60, 105, plus the Truck and Garage shapes.
  • Standard 1:43 (Bburago, Maisto, Welly, Minichamps, Ixo, Kinsmart sedans & sports cars) → the new JCAR 65, with longer 130mm slots made for 1:43 models.
  • Larger 1:32 (Maisto 1:32, Bburago 1:32, Siku 1:32, animal figures, Montessori loose parts) → JCAR 15, with extra-wide 181mm slots.
  • Monster trucks & chunky 1:43 (Monster Jam® Grave Digger / El Toro Loco / Megalodon, Thomas & Friends™, large Disney Cars) → JCAR Monster, with deep 123×88×80mm slots for big wheels.

Standard 1:64 racks — choose by collection size

All of these take standard 1:64 cars in roughly 90×47mm slots. Pick by how many cars you have (and leave room to grow):

  • JCAR 30 — 30 slots, just 28cm tall, so it sits on a shelf (JORY 3/5, JORA 7), the floor, or the wall. The most affordable way to start a collection.
  • JCAR 60 — 60 slots (H50×W58×D5cm). The sweet spot for a growing fleet; line several up side by side for a seamless wall.
  • JCAR 105 — 105 slots (H75×W68×D5cm). Our biggest 1:64 rack, for the dedicated collector who wants the whole fleet on display.

Statement shapes — storage that’s also decor (also 1:64)

Same 1:64 slot, but the rack itself becomes a feature on the wall:

  • JCAR Garage — 50 slots (H74×W54×D4.5cm) with a laser-engraved GARAGE sign built into the wood. Thicker, heavier pine frame; wall-mounted only, about 15 minutes to install.
  • JCAR Truck — 42 slots in a fun truck silhouette (H41×W92×D5cm). Lots of capacity, low and wide, wall-mounted.

JCAR 65 — the new rack for standard 1:43 cars

JCAR 65 is our newest rack, built for the scale that never had a proper home: standard 1:43 diecast. Its 65 slots are 130mm wide × 51mm tall (H75×W68×D5cm overall) — long enough for 1:43 sedans and sports cars from Bburago, Maisto, Welly, Minichamps, Ixo and Kinsmart, and it also takes 1:36/1:38 pull-back cars up to about 13cm long. If your cars are noticeably longer than a Hot Wheels but aren’t big-wheeled monster trucks, this is the rack — it fills the gap between the 1:64 racks and the deep JCAR Monster.

Not sure if your cars are 1:43? The scale is usually printed on the base. As a rule of thumb, JCAR 65 fits cars up to ~13cm long and ~5cm tall — comfortably longer than a 1:64 Hot Wheels, but slimmer than a deep-welled monster truck.

JCAR 15 — for bigger 1:32 cars

JCAR 15 has 15 wide 181mm slots (H50×W58×D5cm) built specifically for 1:32 scale diecast that simply won’t fit a standard 1:64 rack — Maisto, Bburago and Siku 1:32, and it doubles nicely as a home for animal figures or Montessori loose parts.

JCAR Monster — for monster trucks & big-wheeled 1:43

JCAR Monster has 20 deep slots (123×88×80mm) made for big wheels: Monster Jam® trucks, chunky 1:43 vehicles, Thomas & Friends™, and large Disney Cars. Where JCAR 65 is shallow and long for slim 1:43 sedans, JCAR Monster is deep and tall for trucks with oversized tyres. Solid pine handles the extra weight, and it pairs perfectly next to a JCAR 60 or JCAR 65 for a mixed-scale wall.

Why solid pine?

Every JCAR rack is made from solid pine. It’s sturdy enough to wall-mount and hold the full weight of a growing collection without bowing, and the warm natural grain suits a nursery or kid’s room. Most sizes can be wall-mounted, freestanding on the floor, or sat on a shelf (the 30 and 60 sit neatly on the bottom tier of our JORA 7).

How to choose, in one minute

  • Standard Hot Wheels / Matchbox (1:64)? JCAR 30 to start, 60 as it grows, 105 for a serious collection.
  • Want a statement piece? JCAR Garage or JCAR Truck (still 1:64).
  • Standard 1:43 sedans & sports cars? JCAR 65.
  • Bigger 1:32 cars? JCAR 15.
  • Monster trucks or big-wheeled 1:43? JCAR Monster.

Not sure which scale your cars are? Check the base of the car — it’s usually printed there. Then browse the full JoyKids range and pick the JCAR rack that fits your collection, and the space you have for it to grow.
