Float it on the wall—and skip the high skirting board 

The simplest solution is to mount the shelf entirely on the wall, either above the skirting board or floating-style. Wall-mounting bypasses the skirting board issue, frees up floor space, and creates a more open, airy feel. All our front-facing bookshelves can be securely mounted to achieve this floating look.

Got a little one who likes to push and climb? Add a second mounting kit

Toddlers love to push, pull and pull themselves up on furniture. If your child is active around the shelf, reinforce it with an extra mounting kit for double the hold and extra peace of mind.

Anchoring into a wall stud is the safest option. Drywall anchors hold well for everyday use, but a screw driven straight into a solid wood stud grips far harder—important if your child likes to pull on or climb the shelf. Whenever possible, anchor into a stud:

• Use a stud finder to locate the studs in the wall.
• Hold the bookshelf in position against the wall.
• Drive the screws through the brackets and into the studs.
• Tighten securely with a drill.
